Nikon’s mystery mirrorless camera has had plenty of information and rumors about it scattered all over the place, so to obtain something from a somewhat reliable source, there is no way we would not jump at the chance to share it with the world. It seems that the latest information concerning the sensor in the upcoming EVIL camera will feature a 2.6x crop factor. It does seem as though the majority of previously filed patents also point towards a sensor with an image diameter of 17 mm (diagonal) and a 2.5x crop factor. Just what is the difference between 2.5x and 2.6x? That could very well be due to different rounding, and if this piece of information proved to be true, the Nikon mirrorless sensor is touted to be tinier than the current Micro Four Thirds format (diagonal: 21.6mm, 2x crop factor).
The rumor also points to a trio of new lenses that will be rolled out at the same time the mirrorless camera is made official – and the merry trio comprises of one wide pancake and a couple of zooms. Just for your reference, it is notable that a bunch of mirrorless lens patents for different focal lengths were filed before.
Just how true will the rumors be? Just keep your fingers crossed and wait for something official.
